Defendants who have been ordered to complete an alcohol evaluation,
treatment, or classes bear the responsibility to schedule and complete
those programs in a timely manner. If assistance is required in
scheduling alcohol evaluations, treatment, or court ordered counseling,
contact the Court Services office in the county of conviction.
Additionally, it is the Defendant’s responsibility to request that their
alcohol care provider or counselor send written documentation of
successful completion to the Court Services office in the county where
convicted. IF ARRANGEMENTS
ARE NOT MADE TO HAVE THIS DONE,
THE DEFENDANT WILL BE ARRESTED BECAUSE THE COURT WILL NOT KNOW THE
PROGRAM
HAS BEEN COMPLETED. The
Defendant also must call the Court Services office to confirm
that written documentation was received verifying the successful
completion of an approved alcohol program.
Defendants will need approximately ninety (90) days to complete an
alcohol evaluation, attend the DWI classes, and to process the paperwork
confirming completion of the alcohol program. They should schedule
their evaluation and classes immediately following sentencing. They
will not receive an extension of time to complete the program.
